Leighton Batiste

Former Member of the Lyke House Catholic Center

“The value of campus ministry is that it provides the space where challenge is promoted and faith is built.”

After growing up attending Atlanta’s Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and local Catholic schools, St John the Evangelist in Hapeville and Our Lady of Mercy in Fayetteville, Leighton Batiste attended nearby Morehouse College. Taking his freshman year away from active church involvement, Leighton found himself welcomed at the Lyke House Catholic Center. At this campus ministry serving students from Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, Morehouse College, and Georgia State University, Leighton found structure and a safe place to discuss faith, connect to the greater community, and discover God’s universal gift of love for all of us. The Lyke House depends on the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal to continue to serve its students and bring them deeper in their walk with the Lord to serve the community of the Archdiocese of Atlanta.

A donation to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal helps supports many campus ministries throughout the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
